Pearson, G.: THORACIC SURGERY, 2nd Ed.; February 2002; 334,50 €; 1940 Pag. / 1325 Illus. |
Features:
This authoritative book has many commendable
features. The reasonable print size and nonglossy paper allow for comfortable,
lengthy reading. The quality, quantity, and appropriateness of the illustrations
are quite good. The references are current and the index suitably organized. The
consistency with which multiple authors follow the format prescribed by the
editors is a laudable and infrequently found feature in a work of this magnitude.
Each topic is introduced by a brief historical sketch followed by pertinent
anatomy, physiology, and clinical presentation. Diagnostic maneuvers and
accepted modes of therapy are included in each chapter. Additional refreshing
features are speculative discussions relative to future trends and editorial
commentary that may or may not agree with the author's opinion.
