Basic Immunology
The Functions of the
Immune System
Abul K. Abbas, MD and Andrew H.
Lichtman, MD, PhD
Basic Immunology has been
designed to fill the need for a shorter textbook of basic immunology for medical
students, allied health courses, and undergraduate courses in human immunology.
The text will emphasise the basic concepts and principles of human immunology.
Experimental material will be minimised.
The "Big" Abbas is a
comprehensive textbook of Immunology for medical students and graduate programs
in human immunology. In response to some evidence that even medical students are
finding this book a little more than they need, we decided to prepare a shorter
book. The "Baby" Abbas is NOT a condensed or abridged version of the
big book, but a whole new book written from the ground up. It is more basic in
coverage and has a more didactic approach, leading the reader through an
understanding of the basic principles of immunology. The art program is adapted
from the 4-color art program in the big book but, again, the art has been
simplified and tailored to fit the discussion in the new book.
